The City of Monterey Park is happy to announce that the city has been named one of America’s “Best Places to Raise a Family” in a recent Time/Money Magazine ranking.
The magazine highlights Monterey Park’s outstanding high school graduation rate, library accessibility, kid-friendly activities, cultural diversity, public safety, affordability and international cuisine as attractive qualities. The “Best Places to Raise a Family” recognition marks the second time this year Monterey Park has been singled out as one of the best communities to live, work and play in the United States.
In the Money Magazine (Time Money) ranking, Monterey Park placed #3 in the entire United States, following #1 Fishers, Indiana, and #2 Allen, Texas. To compile its “Best Places to Live” ranking, Money Magazine used scoring based on the cities’ economy, cost of living, education, housing, crime, amenities and ease of living.

Elementary and secondary schools are served by the Alhambra, Garvey, Los Angeles, and Montebello school districts. Monterey Park is also home to East Los Angeles College, a fully accredited college offering both a two-year vocational program and an undergraduate curriculum. Nearby California State University, Los Angeles offers extensive undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs.
